Schnitzel's Alien

Well, Keegan went to my dad's company picnic this evening. He took home eight gold fish, way too much candy, a bunch of prizes, and a yellow smiley-face Mylar balloon. My dad wanted to leave the fish racing tank with us. (Imagine a 7 foot long PVC pipe with two capped ends. Split the PVC pipe into two halves the long way. Fill them with water. That is what the fish racing tank looked like.) I told him we were trying to sell our house, and Keegan could race his fish at Grandpa's house! Grandpa took the trough home.

While unloading things at our house, suddenly Schnitzel began to bark incessantly. I finally noticed that her eyes were fixated on the balloon. All three humans told her to be quiet. Later, I tried to get her to go near the balloon, just so that she could see it was not an alien or something alive. Her tail went straight down and she hid behind Keegan. Oh, my!

We went into Keegan's room to say prayers with him. Once again, Schnitzel fixated on the yellow ball of helium. She began to growl very lowly. Good grief!

After prayers, kisses, hugs, night-light, and a drink, Keegan finally tried to sleep. Very soon, Keegan opens his door, and says, "Mom, this balloon is going to freak me out. Can we put it in the living room?"

Of course we can. Now, the dog is still acting strangely when she sees it.
