Oh, the Drama!

Girls are more dramatic than boys. From excitement to exasperation in 2.5 seconds. Next comes some giggles. The world is great; then it falls flat on its face only to rise again in the next 1.7 seconds.

I think I'm motion sick from the emotional roller coaster.

All in one minute, Serena giggled with delight as Mommy made a joke, then she turned and growled with frustration because she ran into the dog, who was motionless during this point in time. Rotating about 90 degrees to avoid the dog, she skipped her way over to the table in order to pick up a few things that Mommy asked her to put away. She picked up two things, turned towards Mommy and shouted, "MOMMY! I DON'T WANT TO PUT MY THINGS AWAY!"

Mommy responded with, "I'm sorry you feel that way. You must still pick up your things."

Then Serena growled at Mommy. Mommy glared at Serena. Knowing that the time out chair was readily available, Serena shouted, "O...K...MOMMY!" as she stomped away with her items in tow. Obedience was good in spite of the bad attitude. Mommy had to try hard not to laugh at the ridiculousness of it all.

Suddenly, Serena saw the same dog she tripped over moments before and gleefully shouted, "Doggie!" as she threw all of her things in the air and ran over to pet the stunned and confused creature on the floor. Then, Mommy had to try really hard to not laugh.

After another reminder to take her things to her room, Serena began to whimper and whine, complaining about life and how she just couldn't put her things away. Mommy began to whimper and complain about how tough life is for seven year olds these days while Mommy placed the back of Mommy's limp hand on Mommy's forehead. Serena giggled, scowled, grunted, gathered her things, and headed up the stairs.

Then Mommy started referring to herself in the third person, and she hasn't been the same since.
